Madeline Elizabeth Gibbons, of Weymouth, died Aug. 11, 2013, at the age of 97. Madeline grew up in Dorchester and was a longtime resident of Cambridge before moving to Weymouth. She began working as a telephone worker at the age of 21 for New England Telephone and retired over 40 years later as a manager. Madeline was a hard worker and took great pride in her career. She was a strong and faithful advocate of the Rosary and St. Joseph. She was blessed with trips to Ireland with friends and yearly summer vacations in Ogunquit, Maine. She was the loving sister of the late Mary F. Schofield; beloved aunt of Mary E. Russo and her husband Ronald of Weymouth, James T. Schofield and his late wife Terry of Palmer, Texas, and the late John A. Schofield and his wife Jeanne of Aurora, Ill; great-aunt of Donna Russo, Maryanne Ramirez, Christine Russo Dufault, Sean Schofield and Russell Schofield. Dear friend of Betty Lennehan of Charlton. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours Thursday 6-8 p.m. in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home, at 809 Main St. (Rte. 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital), South Weymouth. Funeral service will be celebrated in the funeral home Friday at 10 a.m. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester. Donations in memory of Madeline may be made to Maryknoll Fathers, P.O.
