Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lilyan Hooper; two sons, David Hooper and Richard Hooper; a daughter, Jeannie Hooper, all of Grand Prairie; and a cousin, Mrs. John Comstock of New Braunfels.
Hooper, 52, apparently died of a gunshot wound after being taken as a hostage in the New Year's Day robbery of the Roma Motel in Dallas, where he was employed as a clerk.
In the motel and hotel business for 27 years, Hooper was formerly associated with the old Lennox Hotel in Grand Prairie. He had operated motels and hotels in San Angelo, Palestine, Houston, and in Baton Rouge, La.
Born in Van Zandt County, Hooper had been a resident of Grand Prairie for the past nine years. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
