John Samuel Colvin was born in the state of Indiana, Jan 21, 1866 (sic) and departed this life at his home east of Pryor, January 31, 1923.
When a boy he moved to Illinois, where he grew to manhood, leaving there he went to Texas and in 1910 came to Mayes County, locating on a farm in the Archer neighborhood, where he has resided since, except for a short time he was engaged in the Milling business in Pryor with Mr. Allred.
In 1883 he was married to Miss Emily Tanlina Boone (sic Emily Paulina Boone), to this union was born four children, one son and three daughters. The son died in infancy, the daughters, Mrs. N. W. Harris, Mrs. J. W. Malone and Mrs. L. E. Sinor are all living in Mayes County.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Grant Teter. The body was laid to rest in the Fairview cemetery.
