Louie Harkins was 3rd son of Robert E. & Ollie (Green) Harkins. He 1st married Beulah Mae Hampton in West Frankfort, IL on 23 Mar 1929 and to this union was born 6 children. Louie Jr. & Wilma Marie Harkins died as infants. Charles Edward, Mary Louise Jimmy Leon and Beverly Mae were the other children. They are all still living. Louie served in the US Army. He owned and operated a body shop in West Frankfort Heights. He was once a policeman of West Frankfort, IL and he was elected Mayor of West Frankfort, IL and served from 1950-54. He moved to Metropolis and went to work at Joppa Power Plant and retired from there in 1972. After his first wife died, he married Bertha (Hampton)Syers.
