Mabel Ashburn, 85, of 235 Wagner Drive died at 5:50 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, 1991, at Rosewood Care Center in East Peoria.

Born Jan. 30, 1906, in Hillsboro, Tenn., to Robert and Bertha Ellen Carden Crockett, she married Edward Ashburn on Dec. 10, 1926, in Hillsboro. He died April 20, 1970.

One brother and one grandchild also preceded her in death.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Harry (Billie) Craig and one son, Edward G. Jr., both of Creve Coeur; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was a member of Bethel Memorial Church of Christ in Creve Coeur, its Women's Fellowship and the choir.

She also was a member of the M & M Retirees Club, Creve Coeur Pension Police Board, Tazewell County Democrat Club and was an election judge.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at her church, the Rev. James Williams officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Schmidt-Haller Funeral Parlors, East Peoria. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery.
