Born June 24, 1871, at Pine Bank, he was the son of the late James and Maize Knisley Carpenter. His wife, the late Zenia Jones Carpenter, passed away on November 2, 1956.
He was a well-known saleman for the Stark Brothers Nursery of Louisiana, Missouri and was rated as a star salesman. A charter member of the Knights of Pythias, Pine Bank Lodge, he was affiliated with the Methodist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Bazil "Mary" Jones of Turtle Creek and three nephews, Melbourne of Long Island, Arthur of Ridgewood, New Jersey and Robert of Brave. He was the last of his immediate family; two brothers are deceased.
Friends of John B. "Johnny" Carpenter of Pine Bank who died Sunday, Feb. 28, 1965, are being received after 7 P.M. Monday in the Mariner and Milliken Funeral Home, N. Maiden St., Waynesburg.
