J. Earl Bozard, 89, of 23317 US Highway 76, Newberry, died Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at the Newberry County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday at St. James Lutheran Church by the Rev. Rodney Gunter. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 till 8:00 PM Wednesday at the Whitaker Funeral Home in Newberry. He was born on July 7, 1923 in Newberry, a son of the late William D. "Willie" and Annie Shealy Bozard. Mr. Bozard was an Army veteran of WW II. He was a retired registered forester having worked for H. M. Hentz and Son for 38 years, where he was the manager of the North Augusta office. He was a faithful member of St. James Lutheran Church, the Adult II Sunday School Class and the Bush River Young Farmers. He was also a charter member of the Newberry Moose Lodge. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dollie Davenport Bozard, a daughter, Kay (Eddie) Honeycutt of Irmo; sons Doug (Beth) Bozard of Whitmire and James Bryan Bozard of Newberry; grandchildren, Annie Bozard, Jenny Honeycutt, and Blake Honeycutt and a brother, Ralph E.(Betty) Bozard of Greenwood. He was predeceased by a brother, W. David Bozard and a sister Marion Bozard Floyd. Memorials may be made to St. James Lutheran Church, 228 Jalapa Road Newberry, SC 29108.
