Clifford Monroe Bright, 83, farmer and former Jefferson County Commissioner, died Jan 15, 1987 of pneumonia following an extended illness.
He was born Feb. 9, 1903, at Richmond, Utah, son of John Monroe Bright and Amy Maria Johnson Bright. He attended schools at Richmond, Utah and Teton, Idaho, and Utah State University at Logan. He married Ruth Harper March 19, 1926, at Rigby.
Bright farmed in the Rigby area, served as Jefferson County Commissioner and chairman of that board, and chairman of the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery board. He also served as a member of the Rigby LDS First Ward bishopric, and was a high priest at the time of his death.
Bright was honored by the Rigby Chamber of Commerce as "Citizen of the Year" in 1968.
Survivors are his wife, Ruth Bright of Rigby; four daughters, Mrs. John (Edythe) Casper of Idaho Falls; Mrs. Dallan (Elayne) Clark of Provo, Utah; Mrs. Allyn (Janet) Wilkinson of Oak View, Calif.; and Mrs. Boyd (Clifta) Tobler of Flagstaff, Ariz; two sisters, Mrs. Melba Kinghorn of Lewisville, and Mrs. Murray (Delia) Harper of Twin Falls, Idaho; 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be Monday at 11 a.m. in the Rigby LDS Stake Center with Bishop David Klepich conducting. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 7:30-9 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby, and Monday at the Rigby LDS Stake Center for one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery.
