Dolores J. Lehn

LEHN, Dolores J. (Age 83) passed away December 6th at Tekoa, WA. She was born Dolores Jane Hevel on November 20, 1927 at Tekoa to Rex Rector and Pauline (Prelwitz) Hevel. She attended schools at Tekoa and graduated from Tekoa High School in 1945. Dolores then attended Washington State College in Pullman where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority House and earned a degree in Home Economics.
Dolores married Berton C. Lehn of October 23, 1948 at Tekoa, WA. The couple farmed at Espanola, WA for a few years before moving to Farmington, WA in the early 1950's, where they continued to farm until the mid 1980's. The couple was later divorced.
Dolores moved to Pullman, WA in 1985 where she worked as a secretary at Washington State University (Veterinary Science, Anthropology, and Civil Engineering Departments) until retiring in 1993. Dolores returned to Tekoa in the late 1990's, and had been a resident of the Tekoa Care Center since 2003.
While growing up, Dolores sold tickets at the Empire Theater in Tekoa, which her family owned and operated. She was a member of the American Association of University Women, Delta Delta Delta Sorority, the Fortnightly Club at Farmington, and the Small Slam Bridge Club in Tekoa. She enjoyed spending time at the lake on the family's float home, traveling, knitting, sewing, and her dog Smuckers. Dolores was a 4-H helper in Tekoa when her children were growing up, and worked as a volunteer election worker in Farmington for many years.
A son Steven R. Lehn preceded her in death in 1965.
At her request, no public service will be held and urn burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery in Farmington at a later date. Memorial gifts may be given to the Empire Theater c/o American West Bank, Box 1048, Tekoa, WA, 99033 or to Mountain View Cemetery in Farmington, WA, 99128.
