Ellen Carlton is Frances Ellen James, daughter of Frank Marion & Calidonia (Crain) James. Her 1st husband was James William Guthrie and they had 3 children together...Odessa, Edward & David. She married James A. Carlton between 1910-1920 according to census. There were no children born to this union.

She was Grandma Carlton to me and she lived with my Grandma Ethel & Pa Ed Guthrie in Herrin, Il. I visited there often and remember her vividly.
