Edward H. "Eddie" Boone was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on October 4, 1935 to Thomas Harold and Benice (Diebel) Boone. He graduated from high school in San Angelo in 1952 and attended Sul Ross College in Alpine, Texas. He served his country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. His career with GTE took him to Louisiana and many cities throughout Texas before finally bringing his family to Brownwood in 1979. He retired in 1989 after 33 years of service. He had a great love of the outdoors, and spent his early adult years hunting, fishing and competing in rodeos, buckboard races and skeet and trap competitions. He later directed his energy to other challenges including golf, raising cattle and Boar goats, baling hay and farming. One of his greatest joys was the camaraderie he developed with dear friends during the 13 years he managed the Brookshire Ranch.
