Gene was born Aug. 7, 1925, in Palestine. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Louise Dunn, in 1996.
Survivors: Daughter, Dana Dykes and husband, Jerrel; grandchildren, William Kelly Dykes, Timothy Wayne Dykes, Christopher Dean Dykes and Andrea "Fred" Taylor; eight great-grandchildren; special to his heart, Eva Panell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
