Daisie D Dalton Dowell, age 99, of Murfreesboro, died March 9, 2013, in Hendersonville, Tenn. Born November 5, 1913, in Lillydale, Tenn. She was the daughter of the late Dr. William Bart and Ada Bertram Dalton. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Paul Edward Dowell, Sr.; and by sisters, Nellie Vantrease, Anna Butler, Linnie Huddleston, and brothers, Chester Dalton, John Dalton, George Dalton, and Robert Dalton.

Mrs. Dowell is survived by her children: Dr. Paul Edward Dowell, Jr. of Nashville; Nancy Dowell (James, deceased) Gilley of Hendersonville; Dr. David Allen (Nancy) Dowell of Long Beach, California; Grandchildren: James Andrew Gilley, Jr.; Paul Edward (Maurie) Dowell, III; Maria Elena Manriquez Dowell, Laura Ann Manriquez Dowell, and Julia Rose Manriquez Dowell.

Mrs. Dowell graduated from Gordonsville High School in 1930. After attending MTSU, she became an elementary school teacher in Smith County Schools. She was an avid reader and accomplished artist. She was a member of North Boulevard Church of Christ, Murfreesboro Art League, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, DAR Cameo Club of Tennessee, and Dames Club of MTSU.

Visitation will be 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM Thursday, March 14, 2013 in the Woodfin Memorial Chapel, Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM on Thursday, March 14, 2013. Bro. Teb Batey will officiate. Burial will be 3:00 PM Thursday at the Baird Memorial Cemetery, Smith County, Tenn. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
