Elton Clarence Thorp, 87, of San Angelo, died Saturday, March 9, 2013, at his residence. Visitation will be at Johnson's Funeral Home until noon on Monday, March 11. Services will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, March 13, in Branon Funeral Home chapel. Burial will follow in Lamesa Memorial Park.
Elton was born in Dawson County, Texas, to the late Acie and Vernia (Meyers) Thorp. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II and U.S. Air Force. He was a retired farmer, a resident of San Angelo for 20 years, and a member of the Church of Christ. Elton married Wilma Brannon on April 21, 1946 in Roswell, NM.
He was preceded in death by his wife, on February 17, 2005; son, Roy Thorp; and a granddaughter, Amanda Carol.
Survivors include daughters, Carolyn Thoring, of Kalispell, Montana, and Hazel Martin, of Post, TX: grandson, Joseph; granddaughters, Angela Faye and Mirrie Jo; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
