Graveside services will be held 4:30 p.m. Saturday, February 23, 2013 in the Clyde Cemetery with David Peterson officiating under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home.
Era was born January 4, 1923, in Clyde, Texas, to Hubbard and Elizabeth Selman Kniffen.
She grew up in Clyde with six brothers and three sisters.
She graduated Clyde High School at the age of seventeen.
She was the widow of Royal Waggoner whom she married on January 22, 1945. They had three children.
Era worked as a bookkeeper for many years before retiring to enjoy spoiling her grandchildren, gardening, and spending time playing the mandolin.
Her love of music was shown in her dedication to playing for the residents of the Clyde Nursing Center each Monday evening.
She was a longtime member of the Clyde Church of Christ.
Era is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Melvin "Coots" Kniffen, Howard Kniffen, and J.E. Kniffen, as well as sisters Estelle Chapman, Faye Hedrick, and Nina West.
Survivors include daughter Janette Akin and her husband Mike, son Robert Waggoner and his wife Chalon, son Rodney Waggoner and his wife Debra, nine grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers Eugene Kniffen, Don Kniffen, and Clent Kniffen.
