Mrs. Overturf loved her family and surprised them often with pies, cookies, fudge and chicken and dumplings, her favorite things to make. She loved gardening, flowers and sewing.

She joined Frisco Baptist Church on May 19, 1940. She said she was saved right before dinner and baptized right after dinner, and they took her into the church at the water's edge.

She was born July 4, 1925, in Geneva, the daughter of Clarence Harley "Sam" and Allie (Lunsford) Neal. She married Glan J. "Bud" Overturf on Oct. 13, 1941. Both were 16 years old.

They were happily married for 54 years, and he preceded her in death May 1, 1996. They grew up in the same farming community. His grandparents, who were neighbors, always told her they hoped Bud would marry her when he grew up.

Survivors include her daughter, Peggy Sink and husband, Ronnie, of Macedonia; son, Denny Overturf and wife, Phyllis, of Benton; grandchildren, Christopher Sink and wife, Lori, of Macedonia, Jennifer Webster and husband, Kevin, of Macedonia, Adam Overturf and wife, Angie, of St. David, Ariz., Doug Overturf and wife, Megan, of Marion, Jessica Conley and husband, Dan, of Walkersville, Md., Alexandria "Alex" Cummings and husband, Sean, of Phoenix, Sarah Phipps and husband, Robert, of Du Quoin and Ashley Eichhorn of Pinckneyville; great-grandchildren, Alison, Emma, Ryan, Logan, Hayley, Kelsie, Sadie, Jacob, Gabbie, Skyler, Hayley, Grace, Anna, Carley and Molly (who will soon be born to Doug and Megan Overturf).
