Mellio Paolantonio, 89, of Rahway died on Wednesday, Dec. 27 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Rahway.
Funeral services will take place on Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the Lehrer-Gibilisco Funeral Home, 275 W. Milton Ave., Rahway, followed by a 10 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Mark's R.C. Church. Entombment will be in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. Friends may call Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Born in Greenport, N.Y., Mr. Paolantonio lived in Rahway for the past 50 years.
He was a truck driver for AC Berwick Trucking in Woodbridge for 25 years before retiring in 1982. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Post 5, a former member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1146 and a communicant of St. Mark's Church, all in Rahway. He was a good father, a good provider and a very hard working man and will be dearly missed by all.
He was predeceased by his late wife, Anna (nee Patalano) Paolantonio, who died in 1994; one son, Ronald J. Paolantonio, who died in 1993.
He is survived by one son, Carmine and his wife, Mary Ann Paolantonio of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; three grandsons, Robert, Christopher and Michael, and two great-grandchildren, Robert Lee and Angelica.
