A proud member of the Corp of Cadets and varsity football team of Virginia Technological University, he graduated in 1958 with a degree in Agriculture and Education. Joe started his career as a coach and Ag-Ed teacher in Danville, Virginia but he quickly realized that he belonged in sales and in 1960 began his 33-year career as a Technical Sales Representative for Atlas Powder Company as a field salesman. He retired as District Vice President of Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI) in 1993.
He was soo young when he wed his High School sweetheart in 1955, but that union lasted until his death (49 years) and produced the joy of his life, 3 children and 5 grandchildren.
He was an active charter member and often Warden of St. Joseph of Arimathea Episcopal Church in Hendersonville, Tennessee.
He enjoyed his retirement, dividing his time between his grandchildren, family, friends, and he took great pride in his large cattle farm in Morgantown, Kentucky. He will be missed by all.
