Obituary of Paul B. Thompson published in the Ionia Sentinel-Standard - Sat. July 26, 1969:

Paul B. Thompson, 61, a village commissioner eight years, died unexpectedly at his home at 539 Market, Portland, Friday evening.

He was an employee of TRW Michigan division, Portland works, attended St. Patrick’s church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Surviving besides his wife Marian is one son, James H. Thompson of Portland; two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Burley, and Mrs. Mary Lou O’Byrne, both of Lansing; his mother Mrs. Mrytle Koelzer of Ionia and Portland, and eleven grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Phyllis Holly and Mrs. Mable Smith, both of Portland; four brothers; Phillip and Charles Koelzer, both of Portland; George of Muskegon; and Frederick of San Antonio, Texas.

The body is at Neller funeral home where rosary will be recited at 3 pm Sunday and the Knights of Columbus will conduct a prayer service at 8 pm Sunday. Funeral services will be at 9:30 am Monday at St. Patrick’s church in Portland, the Rev. Steven Kolenic, officiating. Burial will be in Portland cemetery.

Paul was the son of Myrtle M. Hill and Hiram Thompson.
He married Myrtle Greenhoe in Sheridan on Dec. 15, 1926, at the age of 19. They divorced on June 23, 1944 in Ionia.
He married Marian May Miller in Ionia, Michigan on Sep. 27, 1947.
