Adair Acker,91,of Odessa,died Sunday
Jan.2,2000,at his residence. He was
born February 14,1908 in Maydelle.He
married Lois Acker April 10,1934, in
Mount Selman.They moved to Odessa
in 1949 from Jacksonville.

He was one of the first students
enrolled at Texas Tech University.
He later transferred to Sam Houston
State University where he graduated
with a bachelor's degree. He played
professional baseball with the St.
Louis Cardinals organization and
was a teammate of Dizzy Dean. He
taught algebra and coached baseball
at Odessa High School in the 1950's.
He loved to hunt deer, quail, and dove.

He was preceded in death by his wife,
May 30,1989.

Survivors include two daughters; one
2 grandchildren; 1 step grandchild; 2
great-grandchildren; i sister-in-law; and
one brother-in-law; and numerous nieces
and nephews.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday,Jan.
5,2000, in the chapel of Frank W. Wilson
Funeral Directors with Rev. Curtis Brewer
officiating. Interment will be in the Sunset
Memorial Gardens.
