OBITUARY: FREDERICK, Md. - Ralph H. Blank, 79, of 8441 Edgewood Church Road, Frederick, and a resident of Northampton Manor Nursing Home, died Friday, May 21, 1999, at Frederick Memorial Hospital, Frederick.
Born Jan. 5, 1920, in Frederick County, he was the son of the late Wilfred Guy and Effie Virginia Delauter Blank.
For most of his life he had worked as a brick and stone mason with his father and Merhl Staley.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II with the 121st Infantry 8th Army. He fought at Normandy.
He was an active member of Edgewood First Church of God.
He was a member of Francis Scott Key American Legion Post 11, Frederick.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria Senft Blank; one daughter, Judy A. Socks of Myersville, Md.; one son, Rex K. Blank of Boonsboro; two sisters, Dorothy Hildebrand and Yvonne Hooper, both of Rocky Springs, Md.; one brother, Rudolph Blank of Rocky Springs; six grandchildren; two special friends, Jason and Jimmy Remsburg of Boonsboro and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter and two brothers, Lloyd Blank and Leon Blank.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Edgewood First Church of God. The Rev. Duanne L. Beck will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church St., Frederick. For the convenience of friends the funeral home will be open on Tuesday from 3 to 9 p.m.
