Dr. Achenbach was a native and lifelong resident of Toombs County. He was a chiropractic physician and practiced in Vidalia for many years. He was a member of the Vidalia Presbyterian Church.
Dr. Achenbach was preceded in death by his parents, G.H. and Sara Dean Achenbach of Vidalia.
He is survived by his wife, Lilo Achenbach of Vidalia; one son, Hope Achenbach, III of Vidalia; one daughter, Wendy Meeks of Lyons; one step-son, Mark Brazell of Collins; two step-daughters, Connie Brazell of Savannah and Lisa King of Vidalia; two brothers, John Wood Achenbach and Charles Henry Achenbach of Vidalia; two sisters, Mary Dean Wilkes of Vidalia and Ann Towers Achenbach of Atlanta. Six grandchildren also survive.
Memorial services will be conducted Monday evening at 6:00 PM from the Stewart Funeral Home Chapel of Vidalia with Rev. Henry Bass officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 5:00 PM on Monday.
