Charity was one of five siblings born to Amanda Josephine Alexander (b. 01-Nov-1853 d. 01-Nov-1901) and Albert Alves Anderson (b. 1847 d. 16-Jul-1928). She was only 11 years old when her mother died. Everyone at Pleasant Valley Church called her Aunt Charity. Charity was always proud to say that her father donated the property that is now known as Pleasant Valley Church and Pleasant Valley Cemetery.

Charity was married to Delmon Daniel Neighbors (b. 06-Aug-1887 d. 27-Dec-1963) on 14-Mar-1907 in Franklin, Illinois. Charity and Delmon were the parents of 7 children. Her parents, husband, many relatives, and at least two of her children are buried in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.

Charity and Delmon worked for several years at the Cranbrook Institute of Arts in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. They retired in Illinois.

After Delmon passed away, Charity finished rearing her grandaughter, Judy Ellen Neighbors. Needless to say, Judy not only adored her grandmother, but will be eternally grateful for her love and kindness.
