Mrs. Mary Lindsay died at the home of her son Alex, at Savannah, Ill. on Friday, Dec. 21, 1894, aged 82 years. Her maiden name was Mary McFettridge. She was born in Pennsylvania in 1812 and married Thomas Lindsay in 1836 and moved with him to Fayette in 1844. She was the mother of nine children, five of whom survive her. Her husband died in 1866, since which time she has lived with her children.
Of her children, Dr. Edson and wife of Whitewater, Alex and wife of Savanah, John and wife of Fayette, and L.B. of Spokane, attended her funeral, Thomas, of Spokane being the only member of the family who was not able to be here.
The remains arrived in this city on the 10:40 train Monday and the funeral was held at Fayette. She was laid to rest beside her husband, who so many years ago preceeded her. Another old pioneer mother has gone to her reward.
