John I Muncy, age 82, of Springfield passed away on November 11, 2012. He was born on June 17, 1930, to the late Charlie and Minnie Lou (Payne) Muncy in Harrogate, Tennessee. In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his brothers, Porter, Hubert, Roy, Ishmal, Otie and Lawrence Muncy and Walter and Burt Dalton, as well as sisters, Birdell Burchett and Lucille Urley. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Anna Louise (VanHoose) Muncy, children, Micheal (Margaret) VanHoose, Esther Pauline (Ward) Ackley, Rose Victoria Fletcher and Sandra Kay Dietrich, grandchildren, Joe (Stephanie) VanHoose, Carrie Ane (Dan) Hartley, Amanda (Andy) Schlegel and Holly (Daniel) Tackett, 9 stepgrandchildren, great-grandchildren, Dylan and Mackenzee Hartley, Ty and Avery VanHoose, Micheal Fletcher-Dunlap, Victoria Cheatham, Landen and Jackson Schlegel, numerous step great-grandchildren, nephew, Lehman (Betty) Burchett, nieces, Ellen (Dan) Scott, Charlene (Bob) Auckerman, Phyllis (Glen) Pennington and Jerlene (Ray) Warf, in-laws, Doris (Bill) Jones, Mary (Jim) Williams, Verina (Clint) Dygert and John (Pat) VanHoose. John served his country during the Korean War in the United States Army. He attended Hickory Grove United Baptist Church. John was an outgoing and social person who loved to be around people.
He was an avid gardener and handy man. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2012, at 11 am at Hickory Grove United Baptist Church with Pastor Patrick Gilliam officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
