He and his wife lived on Park Street in Columbia, in the home of his mother and father-in-law.
His wife, Clara, was a telephone operator for the Jefferson Hotel in Columbia at the time of her husband's death. He was a mechanic for the Broad/Saluda River Company and was injured by heavy equipment on the job which was the cause of his death.
His loving wife and daughters brought him back to Calvary Baptist Church cemetery so that he could be laid to rest near his parents and siblings. The headstone is a tribute to his life and of their love for him.
