He was an Officer with the Albuquerque Police Department for 17 years. Killed in a traffic crash while on duty.

Originally buried at Mountain Valley Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM before being moved to Spirit Lake.

RUSSELL -- Jeff "Josey" Russell, 46, died Tuesday, January 8, 2002.

He is survived by his wife, Doreene Russell of Edgewood; daughters, Tamara Russell and Emily Russell, both of Albuquerque and Lauren Russell; son, Clint Russell, both of Edgewood; mother, Barbara Shiplet and husband, Gene; father, Roger Russell and wife, Lorinda, all of Albuquerque; grandparents, Roy and Lucille Fitts of De Smet, SD; sisters, Jill Russell and her children, Briana and Cameron of Albuquerque and Pamela Reazin and her children, Josh, Carlos and Megan of Colorado; aunt Veloy Franklin, her husband Doug Franklin and their children, Janet and Roxanne and their families, and aunt Beverly Gehm and her children, Robert, Diane, Susan and Lori and their families; mother-in-law and father-in-law Louella and Heraldo Mac Rodriguez; and brother-in-law Diego Rodriguez.

Jeff was a member of the Albuquerque Police Department for 16-1/2 years, a member of the Traffic Unit for the last two years. He was a lover of southern gospel music. He was also a member of the 5th Texas Calvary, a Civil War and Indian War re-enactment unit and a member of Hoffmantown Church. He was also a ferrier.

Services will be held Friday, 10:00 a.m., at Hoffmantown Church, 8888 Harper NE, with Pastor Ken Moore officiating. Interment will follow at Barton Cemetery in Edgewood. Pallbearers will be Dan Heister, Terry Gazer, Jim Johnson, Dennis Tomar, Dave Hansen, Diego Rodriguez, Bob Schmidt, Ray Loomis, Mike Trompak, Duffy Ryan and Mike King. Honorary Pallbearers will be The Albuquerque Police Department Traffic Unit, Russ Shiplet, Mike Shiplet, Joshua Reazin, Carlos Reazin, Cameron Olguin, Craig McClure and Rooster Bonner.
