Christiana was the youngest of ten children of William Whitman and Christiana Steckel Whitman. She was called Anna or Annie. She grew up in Tinicum Twp., Bucks Co.

She gave birth to a son in 1890, who was baptized as Frank Norman Witman [sic.]. Her father prevented her from marrying the baby's father, a member of the Strouse family.

Annie was married to Charles Shoudt in 1891 in Milford, Hunterdon Co., New Jersey, across the river from Upper Black Eddy. Her sister Ellen had earlier married Charles' brother William. The sisters were very close.

Charles adopted her son, and his name became Frank Norman Shoudt. Annie and Charles went on to have five children together: Bertha Mae in 1892, Ella Nora in 1894, John in 1895, George in 1898 and Harvey in 1900. George died as an infant. The marriage was unhappy.

Annie worked as a tailoress before her marriage and resided in Bridgeton Twp., Bucks Co. afterwards. She appears in a number of historical records at St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Annie lived with the family of her son Frank in Bridgeton Twp. at the end of her life. She died of tuberculosis after a year-long illness. She requested to be buried near her parents rather than her husband.

She had 14 grandchildren and 137 additional descendants as of late 2007.
