Mr. James Earl Allen Drayton departed this life in the line of duty with the City of Charleston Fire Department June 18.

He was the son of Mrs. Thelma Brown Drayton and the late Mr. James Allen Smalls.

He is survived, in addition to his mother, by his loving wife, Kimberly S. Drayton, his dear children, Shawntell Drayton, Jacqueline Drayton Davis, Jeanette Drayton, Evelyn Grant-Mack and Arthur Grant; his stepchildren, Daressa Saulters, Ashley Saulters and Brandon Simmons; those of his brothers and sisters, Ernest Drayton, Herbert Drayton, Vernon Drayton, Sandra Perry, Thelma Mitchell and Inell Frazier; his brothers-in-law, James Saulters, Kevin Saulters and Gary Saulters; his sisters-in-law, Sabrina S. Alston, Carla Saulters, Cherrilyn Saulters and Sheila Saulters and cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts uncles and other relatives and friends.

*Captain Mike Benke, 29 years service

*Captain Louis Mulkey, 11½ years service

*Engineer Mark Kelsey, 12½ years service

*Engineer Bradford "Brad" Baity, 9 years service

*Asst. Engineer Michael French, 1½ years service

*Firefighter James "Earl" Drayton, 32 years service

*Firefighter Brandon Thompson, 4 years service

*Firefighter Melvin Champaign, 2 years service
