Dan was born August 29, 1943 in Westchester, Los Angeles County, CA 90045 to Eldon Carlyle Davis and Mary Dorys Mason. Growing up, he and his family were members of Visitation Catholic Church. He attended Visitation School and in 1961 was the first graduating class at St. Bernard's High School located in Playa del Rey, CA. After high school, due to the activity in Vietnam, Dan enlisted in the Army Reserves where he earned the rank of Sergeant. He told great stories of being at Ft. Sill, OK and about his adventures with the howitzers.
Dan loved the Beatles, hands down they were his all-time favorite band! Dan and his younger brother Mark put together a garage band named "The Radicals" where they played local parties & dance gigs during their college days. They then created a band named "Tormentors" which actually hit the music charts in Wisconsin. You can still find their music online today and their "Hanging 'Round" album has been republished.

Dan pursued his education at California State University Long Beach where he earned a B.S. in business administration. Dan spent 30+ years in the insurance business with DiSalvo State Farm Insurance Agency in Beverly Hills.
Dan married Kathy (nee Harmon), making their home in El Segundo, CA. To this union, three wonderful children [Ryan, Eric & Marisa] were born. Dan enjoyed many activities outside of work, especially sprint car racing at Ascot, Nascar, and the boat races at Long Beach Marine Stadium. He also enjoyed Laughlin, NV and hanging out on the Colorado River with his life-long friends, Jim & Bonnie Blakeman & family.
Dan passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on February 8, 2013 due to complications from pneumonia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eldon and Maris Davis, and all eight of his grandparents. He is survived by Kathy, Ryan, Eric & Marisa; his siblings, Karen, Mark & Wyatt; two nieces, Cindy & Robin and Robin's children, Connor & Audrey. (2017 Edit: Plus Vance, Niki, Ryan & Sarah).
Daniel's cremains were scattered at sea over the beautiful Pacific Ocean in San Pedro, CA (at sunset on the one year anniversary of his passing) from the vessel "Bottom Scratcher". Specific ocean location was Latitude: N33* 40.92 & Longitude: W118* 16.21. The arrangements were handled by Ken & Anya at "Ashes on the Sea".
