Our Family Mesquite Tree has grown deep roots in Ward County Texas where my Great Grandfather journeyed in a covered wagon from Georgia in the 1890's.|
My siblings and I are the 5th Generation of these West Texas Pioneers. We were raised where our great grandfather, grandfather and father put down roots. Our Family Geneaology Study and Documentation began with my Aunt Irene who spent countless hours researching Historical Societies from Georgia to Texas.
My primary search and focus includes these family Patriarch/Matriarch names:
George Washington Pittman/Emma J. Howell
(Father's Paternal Grandfather Family)
Elisha Smith Marley/Mary Josephine Leatherwood
(Father's Maternal Grandmother Family)
Steven Bennett Carroll/Martha Jane Marley
(Father's Paternal Grandfather Family)
The Family Mesquite Tree has been the source for stories from Covered Wagon Journeys to Bronc Bustin'. These passed down stories are the basis for my Genealogy Websites...Tracks of My Texas Ancestors and Tracks of My Georgia Ancestors
The Pittman/Carroll/Marley/Leatherwood Family Tree is registered on Ancestor.com. I welcome inquiries and information on the above mentioned family names. I am fortunate to have a collection of Family Photographs from the 1890's to the early 1900's.

|Sherlock||your Martha Dell Marley|
Was your Martha Marley a daughter of Henry Marley and Jane Barnes? If so, I have her in my file as being born April 25, 1840 and died July 16, 1921 in Wilkes County, NC. I did not have information on who she married. My ancestor is her brother John Marley.

Hi Sue, I noticed your connection to the Marley surname. My grandmother was Roxie Marley born in NC. Her grandfather were Benjamin son of John Marley and Hannah Barnes. Looks like you are connected to the same line.

|Katiann Grove||Jess Lankford|
I noticed you left virtual flowers for my great grandfather Jess Lankford (passed away in Pomona, CA). They do not have my grandmother who is his child, Shirley Alaide Tice. Her mother was Mildred Heltez Lankford. She talked about her half brothers who are listed on there.
I was wondering if you were related. I am trying to get more info on Jess Lankford.
Hi Sue, nice to meet you here on F.A.G. as well as over in bloggy land. Always nice to find people who have such respect for those that came before them. I'm not as active here on Find A Grave as I used to be. Not at all happy when Jim sold out to ancestry. Had a membership there for years, but thought it got to expensive so unsubed. I have my tree on tribal pages, which I really like. Am in need of updating it, but somehow one never gets that done. Something I'm sure you relate to.
Thank you for all, will let you know on the saghs decision. did you have a good time today?

My mother's family name was Mitchell. If you enlarge the picture on my bio, you will see my mother looking at the grave marker for her parents, John M. and Harriet Mitchell. Photo taken in the Monahans cemetery.

I do not know Clay's family or whoever is managing his memorial, so can't be of any help to you there. Note in your bio you have deep roots in Ward County. So do I. My mother's family roots go back as early as 1885 in the Ward, Winkler County area.
