RISING STAR- Lue 'Lewis' Watkins, 90, of Rising Star died Monday, June 30, 2003 at the Brownwood Regional Medical Center, Brownwood.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2003 at the Higginbotham Chapel, Lynn Starnes officiated. Burial was in the Rising Star Cemetery in Rising Star, Texas. Higginbotham Funeral Home of Rising Star was in charge of arrangements.
Lue was born February 23, 1913 in Brown County, Texas to Henery F. Lewis and Mattie A. Lewis. She married Clifford Watkins on October 23, 1940 in Ardmore, Okla. She lived in Rising Star for 63 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She co-owned and operated Watkins Grocery in Rising Star for 36 years. She will be deeply missed by all her friends and family.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank Lewis and Floyd Lewis; and one sister, Charity Cagle.
Survivors are her loving husband of 62 years, Clifford Watkins of Rising Star; numerous nieces and nephews.
