RISING STAR - Services for Charles E. Watkins, 78, and his wife, Martha C. Walkins, 74, both of Colorado City, were at 11 a.m. today at Higginbotham Funeral Home in Rising Star with Rev. Kenneth Wyatt officiating. Burial was in Rising Star Cemetery., The couple died in a two- vehicle accident Tuesday west of Midland.

Mr. Watkins was born Feb. 27, 1895, in Jayton, and Mrs. Watkins was born Jan. 25, 1899, in Brownwood. They were married July 26, 1922. at Brownwood and were Methodists. They had lived in Colorado City for 12 years and were former residents of Rising Star. He was a veteran of World War I.

Survivors include four sons, Cecil Watkins of Monahans, . Jerry Watkins of Alamogordo, N.M., Bob Watkins and Johnny Watkins, both of Lakehills; two daughters, Mrs. Tom Downtain of Dallas and Mrs. Richard Sell of Booker; 19 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

His survivors also include three brothers, Henry Watkins (if Eastland, Gene Watkins of Houston and Mabry Watkins of Monahans. Two sisters preceded him in death. The couple was preceded in death by one daughter..
