"Ed Watkins, age 92, of Coleman formerly of Rising Star, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 in Coleman. The family will have a private service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 20th at the Rising Star Cemetery with Larry Weise officiating, with Higginbotham Funeral Home of Cross Plains in charge of arrangements.

"He was born on September 8, 1920 in Rising Star to M. and Edith (Parker) Watkins. Ed was earned a Master's Degree in Education and was an educator and a School Administrator. He was a veteran and belonged to the Methodist Church.

"Ed is survived by his daughter, Julie Weise of Abilene; two grandchildren Jake Weise and wife Jeannie of Abilene and Mary Weise King and husband Curt of Dallas; three great-grandchildren, Shaylin, Weston, and step-great-granddaughter, Chelsea King, as well as several nieces and nephews."
