Lynn Marie Marshall Banks
Funeral services for Lynn Marie Marshall Banks, age 84 of Rusk, are scheduled for 3 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2007 at First Church on the Hill in Rusk, Texas with the Reverend Jan Pate officiating.

Burial will be in Rusk Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Rusk.

Mrs. Banks passed away on April 6, 2007 at the East Texas Hospice Center in Tyler, Texas.

She was born May 2, 1922.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Banks, her father and mother, Charles W. and Ewing Marshall, and two brothers, Charles R. and Johnny Marshall.

She is survived by her three children, Bob Banks and wife Martha of Richardson, Texas; Judy Ramey of Rusk, and Diann Norton and husband Jerry Don of Rusk; 10 grandchildren Robin and husband Kret Townsend of Round Rock, Texas; Debra and husband Mike Dominy of Alto; Sherry and husband Greg Dover of Rusk; Ronda and husband Denny McIntyre of Rusk; Shannon and husband Jim Myers of McKinney; Steven Norton and wife April of Rusk; Jason Ramey and wife Monica of Houston; Keith Norton and wife Amy of Rusk; Lynn and husband Josh West of Alto; Scott Ramey and wife Elizabeth of Conroe, Texas; 18 great-grand children and one great-great-granddaughter.

Lynn Marie was a long-time resident of Rusk where she was active for many years in business. She worked as a manager with Sears-Roebuck at many locations including Dallas, Kilgore, Longview, Palestine, Jacksonville and as manager of the local Rusk Sears store for more than 10 years.

She managed the Rusk Pine Meadow Apartments for another 10 years followed by an equal time at the Department of Human Services until her retirement in 2002.

Also as a volunteer, she was elected and served as President of the local HUD organization for several years.

During the years while her children and grandchildren attended Rusk schools, she was always active and supportive in any activities where they were involved.

She was the first woman to serve on the Rusk Independent School District Board.

All through her adult life, she enjoyed taking her children and their friends on trips, out to eat, to ballgames, and many other "fun things."

She was known in the community as "Mrs. Banks," "Mrs. B," or just "Lynn Marie" but later her grandchildren and their friends have come to lovingly know her as "Dee."

Along with her late husband, Lewis Banks, she was a strong supporter in local politics, attending and participating in the Democratic Convention for many years.

She has always been "around the Courthouse" helping to count votes, or just keeping up with the political races "first hand".

"Dee" has now moved on to her final job, where we know she is already pitching in to get things organized and "done right." Though she is gone, her memories and persistent influence are forever ours to keep.

Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 6–8 p.m. Sunday, April 8, 2007 at First Church on the Hill in Rusk.

If desired, memorials may be made to Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, Texas 75701.
