The funeral of Mrs. Sophia Baker, of Bowan and formerly of Darlow street, Wagga, who died in a private hospital in Wagga on Thursday evening after a long illness, at the age of 71 years, took place yesterday afternoon. The cortege, which was a large and representative one, moved from Mr. J. C. McDonald's premises at 2 o'clock after a short service conducted by the Rev. A. J. Gould, of Wagga. The interment took place in the Methodist section of the Wagga cemetery, where the Rev. Gould officiated. At the graveside Miss Alexander, of Wagga, made feeling reference to the life of Mrs. Baker. The coffin, laden with beautiful floral tributes, was carried to the grave by Messrs. Oliver Baker, David Baker, Walter Angel, Albert Baker, Richard Baker, and Leslie Angel. The pall-bearers were Messrs. H. Angel; H. E. Angel, Frank and Steve Baker, E. Denton, and A. Brooker. The chief mourners at the graveside included. Mrs. E. Hockey and Miss Clara Delaney (daughters), Mrs. A. Rogers (sister), Messrs. J. Brooker and Alf Brooker (brothers), Mrs. Frank Baker, Mr. and Mrs, E. Denton (son-in-law and daughter), Mr. and Mrs Oliver Baker (step-son and daughter-in-law), Mrs. A. Brooker; Messrs. Walter. Harvey, Leslie and Horace Angel; Messrs. Dave, Steve, Frank, Frederick ,and William Baker, Mrs Steve Baker and Mr. Frank Rogers (relatives). There were many friends present, including Mr. and Mrs. W. Hall, Mrs. E. J. Hale; Mrs. Budd, Mr. Fred Seckold, Mrs. Seckold, Messrs. F. Sheriff, Alby Angel, Roy Rudd; William Hannam, Mr. and Mrs. Southwell, Miss F. Craft, Miss Hannam, and Mrs. P. Burt. Relatives and friends were present from Forest Hill, Rowan, Gregadoo, Coreinbob, Borambola, Lake Albert, and Wagga. The funeral arrangements were conducted by Mr. J. C. McDonald, of Wagga.
