Joseph C. Callahan, Jr., 71, died July 17, 2017 in Stayton, Oregon. He was born March 11, 1946 in Davenport, Iowa where he was raised by his parents Joseph and Elizabeth (Foster) Callahan. After serving in the US Navy during the Vietnam War, Joseph lived in San Diego, CA then in Boise, ID before moving to Silverton in 1987 and finally to Stayton in 1999. He married Carmen Garcia on June 20, 1992 in Silverton. Joseph worked for 19 years at Sumco Semiconductors in Salem as an ingot grower of silicon wafers. He was an avid sports fan, especially the Iowa Hawkeye’s and loved Irish Wolfhounds and his Whippet, Tiger. Joseph was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife: Carmen of Stayton; sons: Gabriel Lopez of Salem, Brendan Callahan and Ryan Callahan both of Stayton. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gregory. A graveside service will be held Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Noon at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Davenport.
