Edward J. Boyle Sr., 73, a retired asbestos worker, died Thursday at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia.

He was a Deptford resident for the last 36 years and was born and raised in Philadelphia.

Mr. Boyle was a life member of the Asbestos Workers Union Local 14 in Philadelphia.

He was a World War II Army veteran serving in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 15031.

He was an avid saltwater fisherman.

He is survived by sons Edward J. Jr. and Jack; daughters Elizabeth Adomanis, Mary E. Bezanis, Rosemary Jordan and Karen Mitchell; seven grandchildren; two brothers; and a sister. He was the widower of Rosemary Glacken Boyle.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 8:15 to 9:15 a.m. tomorrow at the Gardner Funeral Home, 126 S. Black Horse Pike, Runnemede. Funeral Mass will be said at 10 a.m. tomorrow in St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church, 2901 Good Intent Rd., Deptford. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Chews Landing.
