13 Jan 1975: Charles R. Hippert, husband of Beulah A. Good Hippert, 201 S. Sheridan Road, Newmanstown, died last evening in the Good Samaritan Hospital, where he had been a patient since Wednesday. He was 78. Born in Newmanstown, he was a son of the late Harvey and Cora Riehl Hippert. He was formerly employed by the Reading Co. as a foreman in linesmen construction work, retiring in 1961. He was a former umpire during the time of the Lebanon Valley Baseball League. A member of Elias United Church of Christ, Newmanstown, he was also a member of the Sinking Spring, Goodwill and Newmanstown fire companies. He was also a member of Senior Citizens of Lebanon Valley Inc. and the Newmanstown Athletic Club. In addition to his widow he is survived by a daughter, Corolla, wife of Earl Bagenstose, Reading; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and four sisters, Katie, widow of Elias Hartranft and Helen, widow of Ralph McCook, both of Newmanstown; Jennie, wife of John Eck, Lebanon, and Carrie: wife of Fred Smith, Palmyra.
