Professional Basketball Player. For seven seasons (1971 to 1978), he played at the center position in the American and National Basketball Association with the Carolina Cougars, Seattle SuperSonics, Los Angeles Lakers, Kentucky Colonels and Buffalo Braves. Born James Ronald McDaniels, he make his first impact on the basketball court during his years at Allen County High School in Kentucky. He later enrolled at Western Kentucky University and helped lead the basketball squad to the "Final Four" in the NCAA Tournament in 1971. Individually, he achieved All-American honors three-times. Selected by Seattle during the 2nd round of the 1971 NBA Draft, he signed with Carolina of the ABA. He would end up with Seattle during the 1971-1972 season and total a career-high 1,665 points between the two teams. In 271 career regular season games, he compiled 2,698 points. His uniform number 44 was retired by Western Kentucky University and he was inducted into their Athletic Hall of Fame.
