Actor. Born Hugh Goodwin, he was best known to television viewers as the first Paul Martin on the popular television series "Lassie" from 1957 to 1958. His first acting role was playing a bit part in the 1953 film "The Mississippi Gambler". He would go on to appear in such films as "Attack" (1956), "Dragoon Wells Massacre" (1957), "The Garment Jungle" (1957), "Oregon Passage" (1957), "The Power of the Resurrection" (1958), "I'll Give My Life" (1960), and "What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?" (1962). In December of 1957, he started his role as Paul Martin, who along with his wife Ruth adopts Timmy midway through the fourth season of "Lassie". He would be released from the show a year later along with Cloris Leachman, who played his wife Ruth on the series. Besides "Lassie", he also appeared in numerous television series during the 1950s and early 1960s such as "My Little Margie", "The Whistler","Gunsmoke", "The Millionaire", "Schlitz Playhouse", "Men Into Space", "The Brothers Brannagan", and "The Alfred Hitchcock Hour".
