Hall of Fame Sports Broadcaster. Best known for his work with the New York Knicks. He was paired with Marv Albert as the color analyst for New York Knicks' television broadcasts from 1986 until 1998. Prior to this, he worked with Albert on Knicks' radio broadcasts during the 1970s. Additionally, he hosted the program "NBA Legends with Johnny Hoops". The Brooklyn native attended St. Michael's Diocesan High School, where he first distinguished himself on the basketball court, as he achieved All-City honors. He moved on to the collegiate level at Fordham University and during his years with the Rams, he contributed to the school's reaching of the National Invitational Tournament (NIT) twice. He broke into broadcasting as an analyst for collegiate games, prior to joining the New York Knicks' radio team during their championship season of 1972-1973. He was inducted into the Fordham University Athletics Hall of Fame in 1978. He body of work in broadcasting was honored by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2014, when he was the recipient of the Curt Gowdy Award. He was suffering from dementia at the time of his death.
