Rock Musician. A drummer, he was a founding member of the American Southern Rock band "The Allman Brothers Band." Born Claude Hudson Thomas into a devout Baptist family, he became acquainted with the drums at roughly the age of fourteen. While attending Florida State University, he formed his first group called "Bitter End." Along with Gregg Allman and Duane Allman, Trucks helped form "The Allman Brothers Band" and during the course of their existence, he shared drumming duties with Jai Johanny Johanson, beginning with their self-titled debut album in 1969. Other classic albums include "At Fillmore East" (1971), "Eat a Peach" (1972) and "Brothers and Sisters" (1973). Trucks was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a founding member of "The Allman Brothers Band" in 1995. In 2015, he formed an ensemble called "Butch Trucks and His Very Special Friends" and briefly performed in public. His nephews Derek and Duane Trucks became successful musicians. Trucks was the nephew of former Major League Baseball pitcher Virgil "Fire" Trucks.
