Mr. Howell was the second youngest of 11 children born to Isaac and Margaret (Tucker) Howell.
He married Cynthia Vianna Baker, daughter of Absalom and Elizabeth Kennedy Baker, on Dec 21, 1857. They had one child when the 1860 census was taken: Comer C. Howell (1859-1930).
On 28 Feb 1867, Clement Comer Clay Howell and his friend, Clement Clay Greene--both named for Alabama Congressman and Governor, C C Clay, got into a fight in Atlanta that resulted in the death of Clement Howell. The story appeared in the Atlanta papers and until recently was accessible online. Clement was buried in the Howell Cemetery. (story has two sources and is used with the permission--Gladys and K.
