Sharon R. (Witzky) Koser Matthes of Grace Village Retirement Community in Winona Lake, Indiana passed away at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at Lutheran Hospital of Ft. Wayne, Indiana at the age 74.

She was born on September 8, 1944 in Mansfield, Ohio to Leila Mae (Seymour) Witzky and Harold Eugene Witzky. On May 15, 1965 she was married to Eugene “Gene” Richard Koser for 43 years before he passed away on October 5, 2009. Sharon remarried on July 6, 2013 to Quentin Matthes, who survives.

Sharon was a 1962 graduate of Madison High School in Ohio, and a 1967 graduate of Mansfield General School of Nursing. She worked as a nurse at Mansfield General Hospital for several years before moving on to work as the Utilization Review and Quality Assessment Coordinator at Lucerne Hospital in Orlando, Florida. Sharon and her husband Gene worked as billing agents at Tri County Anesthesia in Ohio and Indiana until their retirement. She loved her family dearly but most of all she loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Quentin Leon Matthes (Winona Lake, Indiana); five sons: Rick (Tammy) Koser (Millersburg, Ohio); Mark (Lori) Koser (Buford, Georgia); Randy (Sue) Koser (Winona Lake, Indiana); Mark (Glenda) Matthes (Goshen, Indiana); Michael (Alisa) Koser (Escondido, California); and two daughters: Deb (Jim) Stoops (Lewis Center, Ohio); Lisa (Scott) Falkenberg (Wooster, Ohio). Also surviving are twenty-one grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren; brother: Terry (Ginny) Witzky (Warsaw, Indiana); two sisters: Carolyn (George) Parrett (Warsaw, Indiana); Beth (Mike) Snively (Franklin, Tennessee); two sisters-in-law: Darlene (Dennis) Bartlett (Haines City, Florida); Lee (Larry) Golf (Winter Springs, Florida); and two brothers-in-law: Dave (Ruth) Koser (Bonney Lake, Washington); Larry (Linda) Bloom (Peach Tree City, Georgia). She was preceded in death by her parents, and her first husband, Eugene Richard Koser.

Sharon’s life will be celebrated in the Grace Village Chapel with a memorial service at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 14, 2019 at Grace Village Retirement Community, 337 Grace Village Drive, Winona Lake, Indiana. Scattering of Sharon’s ashes will take place at a later date at Beulah Beach. Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw, Indiana.
