Deeded in 1841.
Cemetery Road is an abandoned, narrow, dirt way, located off Clesson Brook Road (formerly known as Hawley Rd), approximately 2 miles west of Route 112.
From pg 78 of Kendrick's History of Buckland:
"A small burying ground in the Upper City is located on an old road to Apple Valley. By a deed…it is evident that in 1841 thirty square rods of land were purchased from Asa Davis, for the sum of ten dollars. This was deeded to those who held lots…It is the smallest cemetery in town, there being about 50 interments there…[About 1930] the Buckland Union Cemetery Association assumed the care of the yard, they receiving the fund which had been raised among the descendants of the original owners."
The Buckland Union Cemetery Assoc. (BUCA) is a non-profit, all volunteer organization, that gratefully accepts donations for monument care and grounds keeping. If your ancestor is buried in this cemetery, you are a member of the BUCA per their by-laws. Mail your tax deductible contribution payable to BUCA, P.O.Box 69, Buckland MA 01338-0069 or write to be asked to be added to their mailing list.
