I began ancestry research in earnest roughly ten years ago. I have been a member of Ancestry.com for about seven years. My reason for ancestry research began simply enough with curiosity about whether I had any ancestors that were Civil War Soldiers. Sure enough I have upwards of forty or more that were Confederate Soldiers and ten or more that are Revolutionary War Soldiers as well and that is only my mother's family. I have one Union Soldier in my father's family as well. Yet, I am experiencing extreme difficulty with my fathers family but am working on that. This brings me to FINDAGRAVE.com where just by chance I found a picture of one of my ancestors headstones on Ancestry.com that was posted by someone who is a member of FINDAGRAVE.com. I was thrilled and have since received other ancestral photos of headstones of relatives in other states. My wife has had similar success and in return we have begun paying it forward so to speak by doing the same for others like my wife and I. Searching for the headstones of others with the same need has become a great form of exercise and I have found it very gratifying. Hope to see ya out there! God Bless!
