I am a sixth generation direct male descendant of Thomas Gay, b. 1790 in Georgia, d. bef 27 Nov 1845 in Jackson Co., FL. I am also a 12th generation descendant of William Hatcher, b. 1613 in England, immigrated in 1835 to Henrico County, Virginia, d. bef 31 May 1880.
I retired in 2001 and since that time have been researching my numerous, sometimes elusive, ancestors, as well as my wife's ancestors, in the following surnames: GAY, HATCHER, THARPE (THARP), SIMPSON, WELLS, STOW (STOWE), PRIEST, BLACK, and more.
I have two wonderful cousins, Cindy Sloan and Sue Gill, working on the GAY surname and others. Working as a "TEAM" we have achieved so much more than could have otherwise been realized.
I am a firm believer in documenting my sources and take nothing for granted. I believe that "Geneaology without documentatioin is folly".
