When I was a little girl, my grandmother showed me a small mimeographed paperback book on our Ebling family. I was hooked!
I've been researching about 45 years. The internet has been a god-send for us researchers. Newbies can't imagine how we did it in the old days--writing scads of letters and waiting for replies, hand-writing or typing family group sheets and trees--it was very time consuming!
About 1980, my mother, her sister and her daughter, and I went to Cedar Falls, IA on my first research trip. It was mind-blowing seeing our ancestors on the 1860 Iowa Census!
By profession I'm a bookkeeper, so working with details is my baliwick!
