Tillman Johnson was born on August 13th, 1922, in Weakley County, Tennessee, and lived on his family's farm until moving to Chicago, Illinois as a young man to seek employment. Mr. Johnson answered the call to duty and joined the U.S. Army in 1942, honorably discharged in 1943. After growing up only seven miles away from her in Tennessee, Tillman met his bride Marjorie Emma Trout in Chicago, and married her on June 30th, 1944. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson returned to Tennessee in 1948 to care for Tillman's father, taking their two young children with them. At the end of three years, Tillman relocated his family to DeSoto, Texas, in 1951 to accept a position as a machinist at Collins' Radio, where he advanced to Quality Assurance. He worked there eighteen years, and then moved to Austin, Texas with his now family of six to become a plant manager at Cupples Coil Pipe. He worked at Cupples Coil Pipe from 1969 until 1980. Mr. Johnson finished out his years of employment at TF Electronics and Austin Scientific, retiring in the early 1980's. In retirement, Tillman, lovingly referred to by family and friends as" Bud," enjoyed visiting his Tennessee home and the relatives who lived there. At home in Austin, his childhood farming experience and his Farmer's Almanac helped Bud to grow vegetables that would make any farmer proud, especially his homegrown tomatoes. He and his family enjoyed the fruits of his labor both fresh and preserved. Tillman is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Marjorie; sister, Ruth Tuck, of Tennessee; daughter, Judy and her husband Don; sons, Mark, Dan and his wife, Brenda; daughter, Elizabeth and her husband Jerry; grandchildren, Kris, Brooke, Breanna, Britnee, Bridgette, Daniel, and Brendan; and great-grandchildren, Josh, Chase, Katelan, Makenzi, Jayden, Ethan, Hannah, Kaiya, and Connor.
